Shoshoni woman pleads guilty to naked shooting…

A Shoshoni, Wyoming woman pleaded guilty to shooting her boyfriend, in an episode where she was also accused of shooting into his Harley-Davidson and a truck belonging to her “friend.”

Jordan Christine Weliever, who turns 31 this year, confessed Tuesday in Fremont County District Court to committing aggravated assault against Tom Caproni in April.

She did so after entering into a plea agreement on Oct. 8 that she and her attorney Ryan Semerad both signed, as did Fremont County Deputy Prosecutor Ember Oakley.

The agreement states that the prosecutor and defense both agree to a maximum sentence of seven years in prison. Weliever can always argue for any sentence she wants.

This is a slight reprieve from the 10-year maximum sentence provided for the charge. In exchange for the guilty plea, Oakley agreed to drop other charges: aggravated assault, destruction of property for shooting at his Harley-Davidson and a truck, and inadvertent endangerment.

But Weliever will have to pay restitution for all charges, even those dropped, the agreement states. And the judge can apply any other fine at his discretion.

Weliever’s sentencing will take place at a later date.

Semerad declined to comment on Friday.

“It was me”

Weliever called Fremont County dispatch around 8:29 a.m. April 4 to report that her boyfriend, Thomas Caproni, had been shot in the foot, an affidavit from Fremont County Sheriff’s Detective Anthony Armstrong states.

“It was me,” Weliever said, according to the document. “I shot him.”

A sheriff’s lieutenant went to Caproni’s last known home on Saltbrush Road, just west of Riverton. A trail of blood led from the dirt driveway up the railing to the porch and door, the affidavit states.

The lieutenant made “several attempts” to contact Caproni. The man eventually opened the door and “actually had an obvious gunshot wound to his right foot, which was actively bleeding,” the document states.

Caproni said it happened at Weliever’s home on Missouri Valley Road in Shoshoni. They had drank alcohol together. He wanted to leave and came out naked, wrapped in a blanket because he knew Weliever’s daughter was in the house, the document states.

Weliever came out and threw his clothes at him. As he was putting on his pants, she shot him in the foot, causing him to fall to the ground, the affidavit states.

She continued to shoot him with a semi-automatic handgun from about 15 to 20 feet away, the document continues, hitting his Harley-Davidson motorcycle with bullets. Caproni told investigators she emptied the magazine and put a new one in during the shooting.

Coming home

Weliever then drove Caproni to his home outside Riverton in his truck. He began to walk up the ramp and into his home, but then heard more gunshots coming from his driveway; and he ran inside and locked the door, the document states.

The affidavit says Weliever walked up the ramp to Caproni’s door and tried the lock on the door handle, then walked away and left.

When detectives went to the home, they noticed four trucks parked in the driveway. One belonged to a friend of Caproni’s, Armstrong wrote in the affidavit.

The woman’s truck was damaged by bullet holes, broken windows, interior damage and a bullet to the driver’s side headrest, the detective added.

Casings of blood and shells

At Weliever’s home, investigators found blood, shell casings and bullet holes in the Harley. They arrested Weliever and took her to the sheriff’s office.

Armstrong and Fremont County Sheriff’s Detective Sara Lowe found blood on the front passenger door frame of Weliever’s truck, which appeared to have leaked while the door was open, the document states.

They also reportedly found bullet holes in a child’s rebound net and on the concrete patio.
