Former Wayne County CFO pleads no contest to domestic violence

MOUNT CLEMENS, MI — A former Wayne County executive pleaded no contest to a domestic violence charge this week and now faces up to 93 days in jail. Tony Saunders II, 38, pleaded guilty in connection with an alleged assault that allegedly occurred on January 10.

Saunders is accused of punching his wife multiple times in the face, chest and arms while they were at their home in Detroit. Because Saunders was employed by Wayne County at the time of the alleged assault, the case was referred to the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office.
