I’m a retro gaming expert and you can get one of my favorite handhelds for under £50/

Having written about games since the late 80s, I have as deep a love for vintage consoles and games as I do for the PS5, Xbox Series X, and Nintendo Switch. I even have a good collection of original machines and retro reissues, including a multi-game arcade machine that I built from a Raspberry Pi 4.

This makes me a sucker for a good deal on a retro gaming machine or two, so I’m always on the lookout for deals even when it’s not a big sales time, like Black Friday. This led me to discover this great deal on the Anbernic RG35XX – one of the multi-emulator handhelds that I already own myself.

Bundled with thousands of games across many different classic platforms, it’s currently under £50 in the UK, $55 in the US – a steal. However, there’s no word on when the deal might expire, so I’d advise grabbing it while you have the chance.

As previously mentioned, I already own an RG35XX myself, which I always keep in the top drawer of my desk for quick gaming sessions.

It runs Linux, has a 3.5-inch iPS color screen, and comes with Anbernic’s own user experience, giving you access to thousands of games playable through multiple console emulators. This includes Game Boy, SNES, NES, Mega Drive, PC Engine and arcade coin games.

Dual system support means it can also run Garlic. And you can easily add your own game ROMs.

The pocket-sized handheld can even be plugged into a TV via its HDMI port, so you can play games on a larger screen as well.

Also get a suitcase

If you want to protect your Anbernic RG35XX when it arrives, you should also consider getting a carrying case. Luckily, one of them is also discounted.

While you don’t need to be an Amazon Prime member to benefit from the above discounts, there are additional retro gaming deals as part of Amazon’s Lightning Quick Deals, which are exclusive to subscribers.

Luckily, you can sign up now for a 30-day free trial and have one month to decide whether you want to continue subscribing or cancel at any time.
