Telangana HC summons HMDA chief in contempt case

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Saturday summoned HMDA Commissioner Sarfaraz Ahmed to appear before the court on November 15 in connection with a contempt case filed against him for willful disobedience of court orders.

An Akshaya developer of Bowrampet village in Dundigal-Gandimaisamma mandal of Medchal-Malkajgiri district has filed a contempt complaint alleging that despite court orders, the authorities had not granted permission to build on their land. According to the petitioner, the authorities concerned have authorized Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Avadhoota Datta Peetha Trust to construct land owned by them. The trust has the same common route of approach and both are on equal footing on all parameters, but the authorities have granted permission only to the trust, while pleading for the construction , said the petitioner.

After the petitioner approached the High Court, it ordered the HMDA to reconsider his application for a building permit. But the authorities left this issue unresolved for more than two months, the petitioner said.
