Victor Boniface Provides Worrying Update After Super Eagles Hostage in Libya

Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface has made a worrying point as he is yet to recover from the Super Eagles hostage experience at the hands of Libyan authorities.

The Nigerian national team was taken hostage by Libyan authorities in retaliation for their team’s experience in Nigeria during their CAN 2025 qualifying visit last week.

The incident forced the Super Eagles to refuse to play the match and return to Nigeria. CAF acknowledged their complaints and removed the game, but no further updates were given.

Boniface makes a worrying point

Boniface was part of the Nigerian contingent held hostage at Al Abaq, during which time he provided an update on the state of the team on his social media pages.

Nearly 48 hours after the team was rescued and arrived safely in Nigeria, the Germany-based striker shared an update on his condition via his official X account.

The striker admitted he hasn’t recovered from the experience, saying his body is still shaking, even though it’s in his usual comical tone, but it’s hard to ignore if he really feels that way .

Boniface sends a message to his grandmother

YEN.com.gh reported that Victor Boniface sent a message to his grandmother at the time the Super Eagles were being held hostage by Libyan authorities in Al Abraq.

The attacker, raised by his grandmother, sent this message publicly on social media to warn that he was fine despite being in unfavorable conditions.

The reigning African Footballer of the Year, who missed the matches due to injury, took to social media to call on relevant authorities to investigate the barbaric act.
