KINSELLA: Canada must act against those who target Canadian Jews

It made headlines around the world: Canada’s national government believes that a malicious foreign entity – India – has engaged in a campaign of intimidation, harassment, assault and murder against Canadians.

Why, then, has it been so difficult for Canada’s national government to also believe that malign foreign entities – Iran, Hamas, aided and abetted by Russia and China – are also engaged in a campaign of intimidation, harassment, assault and attempted murder against Canadians. Jews?

Because they did. Hamas and its axis are not simply waging a war against Israeli democracy. They are simultaneously engaged in a war against Western democracies. Canada included.

This is not a conspiracy theory. In July, US National Intelligence Director Avril Haines said: “Iranian government actors have sought to opportunistically take advantage of ongoing protests over the war in Gaza, using a pattern we have seen from other actors use in recent years. years. We observed actors linked to the Iranian government online posing as activists, seeking to encourage protests and even providing financial support to protesters.”

This is an “Iranian campaign,” Haines said, speaking on behalf of the FBI and the entire US intelligence community.

The revelation came months after this newspaper reported that anti-Israel and pro-Hamas extremists were indeed being paid as part of a malicious campaign to sow chaos on Canadian streets and target Canadian Jews. Participants were a mix of anti-Semitic agitators from the Muslim community, radicalized students, far-left NGOs, and individuals who hate America and Western democracy.

The allegations against the Indian regime are extremely serious. These include assassination plots and acts of violence against members of another religious minority, Canada’s Sikh community. India denied the allegations, but quickly withdrew six of its diplomats before the RCMP could have a chance to question them.

Exceptional reporting by Sam Cooper, Stewart Bell and Mercedes Stephenson established that Justin Trudeau and his ministers were repeatedly warned about Indian criminal activities on Canadian soil. The record will ultimately show that Trudeau and his cabal did nothing about it.

The same is true of the threats and attacks perpetrated by operatives of Hamas, Iran and violent Marxist extremists in Canada over the past year. Trudeau and his government were also warned of all this. And once again, they did nothing to stop it.

Consider what Canadian Jews and their allies have experienced since October 7, 2023:

— Schools for young Jewish children were bombed several times in Montreal and Toronto.

— Firebombing Jewish businesses, community centers and synagogues across Canada.

— Hospitals, schools, businesses and even entire Jewish neighborhoods are targets of vandalism, violence and threats.

— Federally-sanctioned organizations, like Vancouver’s Samidoun, applaud the killing of Jews and unapologetically call for “death to Canada.”

And so on. Unlike the so-called Indian campaign, the Iranian version only lacks a murdered victim. But it’s not for lack of trying. For some observers, it is only a matter of time before a Canadian Jew is killed.

We live in a time when outlaw regimes are aggressively exporting their wars against their enemies in Canada, the United States and other Western democracies. For countries like India and Iran, national borders are just squiggles on a map. They are disinterested in diplomatic subtleties and international law.

This is all obvious. What is less obvious, however, is this:

Canada is finally taking on India for its alleged campaign of terror against Canadians.

Why doesn’t Canada also take action against Iran, Hamas and others. for their campaign of terror against Canadian Jews?
