Pushpa 2 earns Rs 1,085 Crore in preview: reports

Pushpa 2: The Rule, starring Allu Arjun, is undoubtedly shaping up to be one of the most anticipated Indian films of 2024. After the massive success of Pushpa: The Rise (2021), which grossed Rs 268 crore at the box -Indian office, the sequel has already aroused immense enthusiasm. Director Sukumar’s upcoming action-packed drama has set new pre-release benchmarks, crossing the Rs 1,000 crore mark even before hitting the theatres.

According to reports, Pushpa 2 has raked in an incredible Rs 1,085 crore from pre-release deals alone. The film rights were valued at an incredible Rs 600 crore, breaking records for Indian cinema. A large part of this comes from Telugu states (Andhra Pradesh and Telangana) and North India, contributing between Rs 375-400 crore. The rest of the domestic market added Rs 100 crore to the pot.

Internationally, the buzz around Pushpa 2 is also dizzying. The overseas rights were sold for Rs125 crore, highlighting Allu Arjun’s growing global popularity. In terms of non-theatrical rights, digital rights saw stiff competition with Netflix acquiring them for a whopping sum of Rs 275 crore. Additionally, the satellite rights were sold for Rs 85 crore, and the music rights earned another ₹65 crore, taking the total non-theatrical revenue to Rs 425 crore.

Remarkably, the production cost of Pushpa 2 is estimated at Rs 500 crore. With previews already generating 117% profits, the film is poised to become a historic box office blockbuster. Industry analysts predict that Pushpa 2 could become the highest-grossing Indian film of all time, with expectations growing as the release date approaches.
