2 teens thrown from car, 1 seriously injured in Allentown crash

Two teenagers were thrown from a car, seriously injuring one, during a crash Friday near Coca-Cola Park in Allentown, authorities said.

The Lehigh County Prosecutor’s Office said the crash happened shortly after 2:30 p.m. along American Parkway, just north of the Bradford Street intersection.

An underage teenager was driving a car that had been reported stolen earlier in the day in the city at an “extremely high speed” when the driver lost control and crashed into a light pole and overturned, the police said. prosecutor’s office.

The teens, ages 14 and 15, were then thrown from the car, WFMZ-News reported, citing Allentown police. The driver was seriously injured while a passenger suffered minor injuries, authorities said.

American Parkway was closed for several hours while police investigated.

The crash remains under investigation by the Allentown Police Department and the Lehigh County Prosecutor’s Office.
