Woman killed in hit-and-run during police chase in Queens: NYPD

ASTORIA, Queens (PIX11) – A woman was killed when she was struck by a van that was fleeing police in Queens Tuesday evening, according to the NYPD.

Officers responded to a 911 call about a burglary at a home on Crescent Street in Astoria shortly before 11 p.m. They then began chasing a black Dodge Ram with three masked men inside, police said.

The van struck a cyclist, a woman in her 30s, at the corner of 37th Street and 34th Avenue, authorities said. She was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst where she was pronounced dead.

The suspects fled, police said. The van was later found abandoned about a mile away on Newtown Road.
