Scott LoBaido spotted ‘Trump Crossing’ signs hanging in New York

A controversial conservative artist was photographed in Manhattan hanging up one of Donald Trump’s mysterious street signs that went viral last week, despite previously denying responsibility.

A now-deleted photo posted to Reddit on Tuesday appeared to show Scott LoBaido and two accomplices installing one of the unauthorized street signs depicting a silhouette of Trump and his iconic headdress near Third Avenue in Manhattan.

“I saw these 3 Trump signs attached to the light poles,” the message read. The image showed the artist, under cover of darkness, standing on a ladder with his arm around the pole. Another man helped while a third, wearing a baseball cap and sunglasses, held one of the “Trump Crossing” signs.

Commenters quickly identified LoBaido, a well-known Trump diehard from Staten Island known for his public protest art.

“It’s fucking Scott LoBaido,” one Reddit user wrote. “He often does stunts like this,” wrote another.

In May, LoBaido released 100 pink penis-shaped balloons in front of the Manhattan courthouse, where the secret trial of the current Republican candidate was taking place.

“This is the same guy who threw pizzas at City Hall,” said another, referring to a stunt by LoBaido in March to protest a plan to ban coal-fired pizza ovens and burning wood in Big Apple restaurants, which led to his arrest.

Perhaps his most famous protest came in 1999 when he threw horse manure at the Brooklyn Museum for displaying a controversial portrait of the Virgin Mary infused with elephant dung.

The same day the photo of the sign was shared on Reddit, LoBaido posted on Instagram that he was in Manhattan and noted that “the Trump sign bandit strikes again.” He pointed to a dozen other signs, hung along a stretch that included anti-Trumper Robert De Niro’s Tribeca Grill on Greenwich Street, the New York Times building in Midtown, Battery Park City and 3rd Avenue.

In another Instagram video posted to his account, several of the unmistakable signs are visible in the background of his studio.

Days earlier, when the Post first reported the proliferation of signs in Brooklyn and Staten Island, LoBaido told the newspaper that it wasn’t his job. But “it’s pretty smart,” he added.

Observers pointed out another strong clue that LoBaido was behind the Trump signs: In small print at the bottom of the signs is a serial number: S4665L.

LoBaido’s birthday is April 6, 1965.

The city Department of Transportation has pledged to remove the unauthorized signs, but it is unclear whether it will seek to punish the perpetrator. The New York Administrative Code prohibits the posting of such materials on public property, including on light poles and telephone and utility poles.

First offenses are punishable by a fine of $75 to $150.
