Experts restore 100-year-old Sherlock Holmes film series

A team of restoration experts are bringing film strips of a silent version of Sherlock Holmes to life. “Silent Sherlock: Three Classic Cases” contains far more footage than a modern Hollywood film. Film conservators meticulously review over 20 hours of content. Computer software changes the coloring of the film and erases dark marks, but it is a very slow process. The restored footage will be screened at the 2024 London Film Festival.
