Teens arrested in connection with reported gun incident at Shabbona Park on Chicago’s northwest side – Nadig Newspapers

The suspects were arrested after a woman reported they allegedly pointed a gun at her and threatened to steal her dog around 8:25 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at Shabbona Park, 6935 W. Addison St., according to the 16 (Jefferson Park) District Police.

The woman reported she was walking her dog when a group of teenagers standing near a park bench threatened to steal her dog, according to police. The woman said she called her sons and they confronted the teens when one of them pointed a handgun and threatened to shoot them, police said. The woman reported that she stepped between the teens and her sons and told them to shoot her, after which the teens fled on foot, according to police.

Officers broadcast a flash message describing teenagers allegedly seen running away by holding the waistband of their pants, and two of them were arrested in the 3600 block of North Newcastle Avenue, police said .

One of the teens allegedly dropped a red backpack containing a handgun with a laser sight and another was found hiding in the driveway of another home, police said. The 16-year-olds were taken into custody, police said.
