easyJet announces two new ‘discounted’ routes from Manchester Airport

Flights on the roads will begin next month

easyJet will launch flights to two new destinations from Manchester Airport next month. From November, the budget airline will operate twice-weekly flights from Manchester Terminal 1 to Akureyri in Iceland and Djerba in Tunisia.

Flights to Djerba, which will begin on November 11, will operate on Mondays and Fridays, while flights to Akureyri in northern Iceland will operate on Tuesdays and Saturdays from November 12. Neither Akureyri nor Djerba are currently served by another UK. airport outside London.


Djerba is an island off the coast of Tunisia and temperatures regularly reach 20°C in December. Akureyri is rather different: a small community of less than 20,000 inhabitants located on the north coast of Iceland, it is known for its landscapes and its high chances of seeing the Northern Lights.

Stephen Turner, commercial director at Manchester Airport, said: “We are delighted to see easyJet launching services to Djerba and Akureyri from Manchester – these are the types of routes that cement our place as the UK’s global gateway in the North, giving holidaymakers more choice and their allowing them to indulge their sense of adventure.

Flights to Akureyri not only offer travelers a rare opportunity to explore the north of the island, but they also allow you to enjoy some of the most spectacular scenery. landings in the world with the airport runway extending into a fjord.

At the time of writing, flights are available from just £45 per person return to Djerba and £38 per person return to Akureyri, according to Manchester Airport.
