Stamford, Connecticut—The Stamford Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Monday morning at the Super 8 Hotel located at 32 Grenhardt Road. Police arrived on scene around 10:40 a.m. after receiving a report of the incident.

When police arrived, they found Stamford resident Angel Samaniego, 59, who had suffered a gunshot wound. Emergency medical services pronounced him dead at the scene.

The investigation into the shooting remains active and ongoing. Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact Sgt. Luis Serna of the Major Crimes Unit at 203-977-4417. Additionally, the public can submit confidential tips by texting “StamfordPD” followed by the tip to 847411 (Tip411).

    Jackson, New Jersey—The High School South Marching Indians won first place in Group A at the Tournament of Bands Spectacular, held last weekend at Jackson Liberty High School.

    The win comes just a week after the group took second place at the Music Under the Stars event. In addition to their first place finish, the Marching Indians also received awards for Best Music and Best Visual for their group.

    Conductors Christopher Test, Laura Carattini and Stephanie Chelston expressed immense pride in the students’ dedication and hard work throughout the year.

    The Tournament of Bands event is part of a series of competitions in which high school bands showcase their musical and visual talents.
