Scorsese the man of music

American publication Variety recently announced that Scorsese will direct the filming of a Robbie Robertson tribute concert in Los Angeles.

Robertson is a Canadian musician who died in August last year.

The filming of Life is a Carnival: A Musical Celebration by Robbie Robertson can constitute a sort of bookend to the first film made by Scorsese with Robertson. In the first film he directed the concert film The last waltz which commemorated the last concert the songwriter-guitarist gave with his group, The Band, in 1976.

Robertson acted as music supervisor or composer for Scorsese films over the decades from The last waltz until his death in 2023.

The last being the score of Flower Moon Killers. Robertson’s posthumous nomination for Best Original Score for this film was his first.

Earlier this month, Scorsese received the Premio Della Mole Award at the Museo Del Cinema in Italy.

The award is a lifetime achievement award given by the National Museum of Italian Cinema in the northern city of Turin.

Beatles 64

The Beatles arrived in New York to unprecedented enthusiasm and hysteria. As soon as they landed at Kennedy Airport, greeted by thousands of fans, Beatlemania swept New York and the entire country.
