Vasan Bala deletes Twitter account after backlash over Jigra’s box office woes: Bollywood News

Director Vasan Bala, whose recent film Jigra underperformed at the box office, appears to have deleted his Twitter account (X). Until recently, he was actively sharing posts and responding to comments, but now his replies appear as empty boxes with the message: “This post is from an account that no longer exists.”

Bala had defended the Alia Bhatt starrer against trolls, and in an interview with The Hollywood Reporterhe mentioned that box office numbers are not the only measure of a film’s success. However, the remark sparked backlash, with many social media users calling him “arrogant” for dismissing the public’s comments.

Some members of the public wondered why Vasan Bala became the face of Jigra after its failure at the box office, while Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina actively promoted the film before its release.

Jigra confronted Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Videostarring Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri, at the box office. Even though Raaj Shandilyaa’s film also struggled to gain traction, it outperformed Jigra.

Supported by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, Jigra has collected ₹26.39 crore nett in India till 20^th October. The film stars Alia Bhatt as a protective older sister who helps her brother, played by Vedang Raina, escape from a foreign prison.
