Two teenagers were injured in a stolen vehicle crash early Wednesday morning. In one of them, a 13-year-old boy crashed a car into a house.

In the first crash, police were dispatched to the 1300 block of Lockbourne Road for a car that had crashed into a house, said Columbus Police Sgt. Joe Albert said in a statement. Officers found a black Hyundai sedan in a front yard.

The car “showed evidence of theft,” Albert said.

The driver, a 13-year-old boy, apparently lost control of the car, hit the front porch of a house and stopped in the front yard, Albert said. The boy was taken to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in serious condition and the car was taken to Columbus police impound.

Then, at 3:45 a.m., officers attempted a traffic stop on a silver Kia Optima near the intersection of Bonnie Court and Demorest Road on Columbus’ west side. The Kia fled at a high speed, Albert said.

Officers attempted to follow, but lost sight of the vehicle. Minutes later, they discovered the vehicle had struck a tree in a yard in the 3200 block of Briggs Road, near Binns Elementary School.

The driver fled on foot, but a 16-year-old passenger found in the car was taken to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in stable condition, Albert said.

At 4:30 a.m., officers arrested two 17-year-old boys in the 900 block of Stephen Drive West. Police believe they were in the Kia when it crashed and fled on foot.

Albert said it was unclear what charges the teens involved in each crash could face.
