Tragedy in Jalna: the ordeal of a young victim arouses local indignation

A heartbreaking incident in Maharashtra’s Jalna town has left the community in shock: a nine-year-old girl was allegedly drugged and raped by an unidentified individual. The incident came to light on Sunday evening, sparking widespread outrage among locals.

The girl, who was initially found in a critical condition, has since been stabilized after being treated at a district hospital and later shifted to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Government Medical College and Hospital. Commissioner of Police Ajay Kumar Bansal assured the public of ongoing efforts to apprehend the suspect.

Local residents expressed their anger through a “rasta roko” protest, demanding speedy justice. So far, authorities have arrested five people, and preliminary investigations have pointed to a suspect potentially responsible for this heinous crime. The victim’s mother had left the child alone to collect help when the incident occurred, which further aggravated the tragedy.
