Elton John admits his young sons are worried about his death: ‘They know how old I am’ | Celebrity News | Showbiz and television

Sir Elton John candidly shared his fears of death, admitting: “I don’t know how much time I have left. »

In a new documentary, the Rocketman singer, 77, also admitted that two young children now worry about his age because “they know how old I am.”

On Thursday (October 10), the hitmaker’s Elton John: Never Too Late special was screened at an exclusive gala screening at the Royal Festival Hall as part of the London Film Festival.

The film – directed by American filmmaker RJ Cutler and Tiny Dancer’s husband David Furnish – gives fans a glimpse into her decades-spanning career and includes never-before-seen footage.

According to PA, Elton was candid in his dressing room where he mused: “I wonder what’s going to happen to all this when I’m done? This is the last period of my life. I don’t know how much time I have left.

“And you think about it more when you get to my age. You think about life and death. You think, “Well, I just want to be where I want to be now.” The star opened up about how he will slow down after the tour ends.

He continues: “I don’t need to work anymore after this tour. I’ll work on records and put on radio shows and do other things, but traveling takes so much out of you.

“It’s very tiring. I’m used to it and I’m a veteran…but this is where you start to think about mortality.

It also includes conversations with the musician as well as his longtime songwriting partner Bernie Taupin, as well as Dua Lipa and the late John Lennon.

Sir Elton concluded his touring career last year with his impressive Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour. Over the years, the singer has battled various health issues, including knee and hip replacements and surgery for prostate cancer.

Footage from the film shows the father of two preparing for his final North American concert at Dodger Stadium in Lons Angeles after performing two sold-out concerts at the venue in 1975.

In the film, he also talks about his sons Zachary, 13, and Elijah, 11 – whom he shares with David – and their thoughts on “his mortality.”

He explained: “They worry about my mortality because they know how old I am. Not so much David, but me, they love their dad so they want me to be there forever.

The I’m Still Standing singer admitted he would love to see his children get married and have children in the future, but he fears he won’t be there to see it. He added that it is his motivation to make the most of his time while he is still full of life.

Earlier this week, Elton made a rare comment about his sons as he revealed how they had “changed his life for the better.”

Speaking to Attitude magazine, the pop legend exclaimed: “The fact that the kids have changed everything for the better because now it’s all about them.

“It’s all about their well-being and their future, and it’s not about me or him. We are very comfortable in our relationship.

“We’re getting better and better, but it’s the kids that really inspire us and it’s the most wonderful time of my life right now, and it’s pretty amazing.”
