‘Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video’ Director Apologizes For Using Characters, Lines From Stree; “We deeply regret”

Director Raaj Shaandilyaa on Saturday apologized for “unauthorized use of characters and dialogues” from Stree films in his latest film “Vicky Vidya ka Woh Wala Video”.

In a message posted to X, he stated that the film had nothing to do with Maddock Films’ Stree franchise.

“I Raaj Shaandilyaa, the director of the film “Vicky Vidya ka Woh Wala Video”, on behalf of myself and Super Cassettes Ind. Pvt. Ltd., Balaji Motion Pictures and Wakaoo Films, the producers of the film, convey to you our sincere “thanks and unconditional apologies for the unauthorized use of characters and dialogue from Maddock Films’ ‘Stree’ franchise in our film,” he said.

“We deeply regret any harm caused to Maddock Films and its franchise as a result of this violation. We are taking immediate action to remedy the matter and are in the process of removing any infringing content from our film in which we used characters and dialogues from Maddock Films’ Stree at the earliest,” the post read further.

Shaandilyaa said the rectification would be completed by October 15 and promised that “no such unauthorized use would happen in the future.”

The film ‘Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video’ starring Triptii Dimri and RajKummar Rao was released on Friday and has collected nearly Rs 13 crore. The cast also includes Vijay Raaz, Archana Puran Singh and Ashwini Kalsekar, Rakesh Bedi and Tiku Talsania.
