The PM Kisan Yojana, a flagship scheme introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has provided financial support to millions of farmers. On October 5, the government released the 18th tranche of this scheme, distributing Rs 2,000 each to over 9.4 million farmers across India. However, despite the timely transfer, some beneficiaries reported not receiving their payments. If you are one of them, here is a guide on steps you can take.

What is Prime Minister Kisan Yojana?

Launched in February 2019, the PM Kisan Yojana aims to provide financial assistance of Rs 6,000 per year to eligible farmers, divided into three installments of Rs 2,000 each. This scheme uses Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to deposit the amount directly into farmers’ bank accounts, ensuring transparency and efficiency. The government intends to support the livelihoods of landowning farmers and help them meet their agricultural needs.

Why haven’t you received the 18th payment?

If you are experiencing a delay in receiving your payment, there could be several reasons for this. Notably :

  1. KYC not completed: The government has made it mandatory for farmers to complete their eKYC (Know Your Customer) to continue receiving benefits. If you have not updated your KYC, this could be the reason for the delay. Farmers can easily achieve this by visiting a common service center or through an OTP-based process from the comfort of their homes.

  2. Invalid bank details: Errors such as incorrect IFSC code or invalid bank details may cause delays in receiving payments.

  3. Aadhaar Card Issues: Your Aadhaar card must be linked to your bank account. If there is a mismatch or the Aadhaar is not linked, the payment will not be processed.

  4. Other Common Mistakes: Closed bank accounts, blocked or frozen accounts, or incorrect information entered during application may also cause delays.

Steps to resolve your issue

If you haven’t received your payment, follow these steps to resolve the issue:

  1. Check your beneficiary status: Make sure your name is on the beneficiary list by visiting the PM Kisan website or app. You can use your Aadhaar number, mobile number or bank account details to check your status.

  2. Check eKYC: Complete the eKYC process if you have not already done so. You can do this online using the PM Kisan portal or by visiting a common service center.

  3. Check bank details: Make sure your bank account details, including IFSC code, are correct. If you have changed your bank account, update the information on the PM Kisan portal.

  4. File a complaint: If everything seems correct to you but you still have not received your deposit, you can file a complaint.
