EQS-News: VERBUND AG: Climate transition plan in the spotlight – Climateutralität until 2040 and Net Zero until 2050

VERBUND is committed to providing renewable energy and a large water reservoir in Europe to ensure climate neutrality until 2040 and net zero greenhouse gas emissions until 2050.

With the new Climate Transition Plan, the VERBUND is a clear place to celebrate with emission reduction measures and measures for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. At the 2020 base level, the reduction in greenhouse gas emissions until 2030 will be 74%, until 2040 it will be 90%. The transition to 2050 is net zero emissions. Ausgenommen sind Treibhausgas-Emissionen, die durch Investitionen en die Dekarbonisierung des Energiesystems entstehen.

VERBUND setzt zur Zielerreichung gezielte Maßnahmen entlang der gesamten Wertschöpfungskette et im Einklang mit der Mission V um. In Europe, green water management makes it possible to transport temporary gas pipelines, indirect reduction of emissions, research and acquisition of electric mobility.

VERBUND verfolgt damit einen wissenschaftsbasierten Reduktionspfad dem Paris-Agreement zur Begrenzung des Globalen Temperaturanstiegs auf 1.5 Grad Celsius entspricht.

Top rating in Moody’s Net-Zero rating

The VERBUND Climate Transition Plan was developed by rating agency Moody’s through a free-for-all review across the three areas of ambition, implementation and governance, under the initial guidance of Best Assessment, NZ- 1 (leader) ausgezeichnet.

Kurzfristige Ziele until 2030

• Reduction of emissions: VERBUND commits to reducing absolute greenhouse gas emissions in categories 1, 2 and 3 exclusive 2 to 74% from 2020 to 2030. Category 2 emissions are indirectly emissions linked to investments in the decarbonization of energy systems.
• VERBUND verpflichtet sich, die Intensität des Scope-1-Emissionen (direct Emissions) at the level of Stromerzeugung up to 40% until 2030 until 2030.

Langfristige Ziele bis 2040

• Climate neutral: VERBUND guarantees climate neutrality until 2040 by reducing greenhouse gas emissions in categories 1, 2 and 3 exclusive 2 to 90% of the 2020 to 2040 base.

• This effort was made for everyone by reducing specific greenhouse gas emissions in scope 1 (direct emissions) to 90% by reducing greenhouse gas emissions in scope 3 (reduction of energy) at 98%, ausgehend vom Basisjahr 2020.

Langfristige Ziele bis 2050

• Netzero: VERBUND projects net-zero greenhouse gas emissions through 2050 (90% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and monitoring of greenhouse gas emissions) beyond baseline 2020, for the benefit of greenhouse gas emissions, thanks to the investigation into the decarbonization of energy systems (Au sbau erneuerbare Energie).
