Cedar Park teens hold donation drive for hurricane victims

CEDAR PARK, TexasAt Crossover, a sports complex in Cedar Park, high school senior Grace Love does something most teenagers don’t do on a Saturday morning.

“It was way more than we expected, so I’m excited to count all the donations and see what we got,” Love said.

Love accepted donations Saturday for Austin Disaster Relief and the Red Cross to help hurricane victims.

“It broke my heart to see him on TV,” Love said. “It’s hard to imagine things like that happening and your whole life disappearing in a second.”

From clothing to canned food and water, donations poured in.

It’s a good thing she has two other teenagers willing to lend a hand.

“I know it means a lot to these people, and anything we can do is what we should do,” Carter Ofobike said.

MORE STORIES:

Carter and Camili Ofobike are siblings. Their father works at Crossover at the Vessel Longevity and IV Bar ATX.

“It’s very inspiring, obviously it took a lot of work to do all this, but luckily with all these resources we have today, any teenager can do more than they think they can do ” Camili said.

All three are wise beyond their years.

“I have always been passionate about helping people and knew that even a small amount could go a long way,” Love said.

And it’s proof that when it comes to helping others, age is just a number.

“Just help in any way you can,” Love said. “Even if you think it’s a small thing, any help is great.”

Blood donations and financial donations are also needed at this time.

You can register online to donate blood or money to the Red Cross or sign up for a donation appointment at We Are Blood.

Love adds that many generous donors came in because of Fox 7 Austin’s previous coverage.
