Hit-and-run in Bayonne under investigation

Bayonne, NJ – Authorities are investigating a hit-and-run in Bayonne that left a pedestrian seriously injured Sunday.

Bayonne police were alerted around 12:20 a.m. The collision occurred at the intersection of Route 440 and 22nd Street.

When they arrived, the police found a 25-year-old man, living in Bayonne, whose life was in danger. He was transported to Jersey City Medical Center and remains in critical condition. The vehicle involved fled.

The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit is leading the investigation with support from Bayonne Police. Information related to the incident can be reported to the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office at 201-915-1345.

  • Ohio Army soldier sentenced to 14 years in prison for coordinating ISIS attack on US troops

    WASHINGTON- A US Army soldier was sentenced Friday to 14 years in prison for attempting to provide material support to ISIS and conspiring to assassinate US service members, the Justice Department announced. Cole Bridges, also known as Cole Gonzales, 24, of Stow, Ohio, pleaded guilty in June 2023 to charges of attempting to assist the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS) .

    Bridges, a former cavalry scout assigned to the Third Infantry Division at Fort Stewart, Georgia, began communicating with an undercover FBI agent in 2020, believing the agent was linked to ISIS fighters in Middle East. According to court documents, Bridges expressed a desire to help ISIS carry out attacks against U.S. soldiers and provided tactical advice, including military maneuvers and plans to fortify an ISIS encampment in order to ambush American special forces.

    Bridges also provided sections of a U.S. Army training manual and sent videos of himself in military fatigues, pledging support for ISIS. In one video, Bridges posed in his Army body armor in front of an ISIS flag, and in another, he narrated a propaganda speech promoting an ISIS ambush.

    Bridges’ sentence includes 168 months in prison followed by 10 years of supervised release.

  • Desperate rescue measures administered after Baltimore shooting

    Baltimore, Maryland – A shooting in the Western District left a young man injured, prompting an urgent investigation.

    On October 12, 2024, at approximately 5:26 p.m., officers reported hearing gunshots near the 1700 block of North Calhoun Street. While en route to the scene, officers encountered a 24-year-old man on North Mount Street with an apparent gunshot wound. Life-saving measures were administered until medics arrived, and the victim was then transported to an area hospital for further treatment.
