East Quogue man charged with first-degree murder in alleged torture killing

Suffolk County, New York — Jeremy Allen, 43, of East Quogue, was charged with first-degree murder and related offenses for the alleged torture and murder of his former friend Christopher Hahn, 43. The indictment was announced Thursday by Suffolk County Prosecutor Raymond A. Tierney.

According to the investigation, the incident occurred on September 27, 2024, after Allen and Hahn, who had known each other since high school, spent the evening at a bar and then went to Allen’s residence on Oakville Avenue. Surveillance footage allegedly showed Allen brutally beating Hahn for 18 minutes shortly after midnight, followed by footage showing Hahn dragged onto the back deck, where he was left in a semi-conscious state.

Allen later allegedly hit Hahn multiple times with a baseball bat before placing a plastic bag over Hahn’s head, watching him struggle to breathe for approximately eight minutes. Surveillance video also allegedly showed Allen stabbing Hahn in the neck 10 times with a knife, ultimately leading to his death after six hours of torture.

The next morning, Allen reportedly contacted a handyman to clean the house. The handyman, after discovering the scene, persuaded Allen to let him go and then alerted the police. Authorities apprehended Allen at his residence.

Allen was arraigned Oct. 10 before Supreme Court Justice Timothy P. Mazzei on charges of first-degree murder, second-degree murder and tampering with physical evidence. He was taken into custody and is due to appear in court on November 14. If convicted of the main charge, he faces a possible life sentence.
