Noel Tata appointed as chairman of Tata Trusts to succeed Ratan Tata

Noel Tata has been appointed as the new chairman of Tata Trusts, effective October 11, following the death of his half-brother Ratan Tata on October 9 at the age of 86. The decision was taken unanimously by the board at a meeting in Mumbai. Tata Trusts, which holds a majority stake of 66% in Tata Sons, is an integral part of the governance of the Tata Group. Ratan Tata, who led both Tata Trusts and the Tata Group for decades, had no children and did not name a successor before his death, prompting the board meeting to make this important management decision.
