Blinkit rolls out EMI option for INR 3K+ purchases

Blinkit has rolled out an EMI (equal monthly installments) payment option for customers, allowing them to split transactions for purchases above INR 2,999.

“We believe this will improve affordability and enable better financial planning for our customers,” said Albinder Dhindsa, CEO of Blinkit in an article on Linkedin.

This feature is applicable to all orders except those containing gold and silver coins.

The update comes a day after the fast commerce company launched a “Blinkit Seller Hub” to help brands sign up on the fast commerce platform and start selling their products.

The company has also introduced a return option for categories such as clothing and footwear in select cities including Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Pune.

Additionally, Blinkit recently launched a feature allow businesses to add their tax identification number on products and services (GSTIN) when purchasing on the platform.

The startup would also consider introducing a cafe feature offer deliveries of snacks and drinks.

Importantly, Blinkit has become a key growth driver for Zomato over the past few quarters. Its revenue grew 2x to INR 1,156 Cr in Q2 FY25 from INR 505 Cr in the same period last year.

Currently, Blinkit operates 639 dark stores across the country, with an average daily GOV per store standing at INR 10 Lakh. Looking ahead, Blinkit plans to expand its dark store network to 2,000 by the end of FY26.

However, the company is sees decline in market share in Delhi NCR region as the company has focused on expanding its presence in other metropolitan cities.
