A complaint has been filed at Chemmanchery police station in Chennai against YouTuber and food vlogger Irfan and a doctor of a private hospital in light of a viral video showing the former cutting his newborn’s umbilical cord in the operating room of the hospital, Tamil said. Nadu Minister of Health and Family Welfare Ma. Subramanien.

Addressing the media at Government Rajaji Hospital in Madurai on Tuesday (October 22, 2024), Mr. Subramanian said that according to the National Medical Commission rules, a non-medical person operating in an operation theater of a hospital constituted a serious offense.

A notification has already been sent to the YouTuber, requesting an explanation. A police complaint will also be filed against him as he has been involved in other offenses in the past, the minister added.

Besides, action will be taken against the private hospital and the woman doctor who helped the YouTuber commit the act, he added.

“Along with the notice to the woman doctor, a recommendation has been sent to the Tamil Nadu Medical Council to prohibit her from practicing medicine,” Subramanian said.

“In the previous case, he revealed the sex of the fetus in a video using the test carried out in Dubai where the law allows knowing the sex… But since it is illegal here, a notice was sent to him and he was only excused after apologizing,” he noted.

The video of his newborn, uploaded on Irfan’s YouTube channel, had garnered 14,00,000 views in two days. As the video made rounds on social media, J.
