Court issues order to protect actor Vishnu Manchu's personality rights

Actor Vishnu Manchu is now awaiting the release of his film ‘Kannappa’ in Telugu and it is expected to hit the big screens in December. The filming of the film has been completed and it is currently in post-production. The epic mythological film based on the story of Lord Shiva and his devotee Kannappa and the film features Vishnu Manchu, Sarathkumar, Mohanlal, Akshay Kumar, Kajal Aggarwal, Madhoo and Prabhas.
Meanwhile, the Delhi High Court passed a ruling Order from John Doe for Vishnu Manchu protecting his personality rights against illegal exploitation. It is a legal order that allows a person or entity to take legal action against an unknown person. The term “John Doe” is used to identify the unknown defendant in the order.
Lawbeat reported that the actor filed a lawsuit seeking protection of his name, voice, image, likeness and all other elements of his persona. He also said that the actor’s photo was photoshopped with animals and that snippets of his interviews were shared that portrayed him in a bad light.
Citing these reasons, he said that no one can use or appropriate his name or any aspect of his personality without his consent and authorization, the actor filed a complaint with John Doe to protect his personality and the court officially adopted the ordinance.
