Alleged drug dealer pleads to meth and gun possession

HILLSDALE — A Jonesville man arrested Feb. 4 by Michigan State Police on a warrant charging him with methamphetamine trafficking and multiple weapons offenses entered into a plea bargain Monday Oct. 14 in 1st Judicial Circuit Court.

Ronald Edward Truitt Jr., 51, pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine as a second offense under Michigan’s Controlled Substances Act, which doubles the minimum and maximum penalties possible under the law.

Truitt also pleaded guilty to misdemeanor firearms, a two-year High Court offense that requires a conviction consecutive to an underlying charge. The two-year sentence must be served before any sentence imposed for possession of methamphetamine.
