Jagan Reddy’s party chief dupes family of Rs 65,000 for VIP darshan at Tirupati temple

The Andhra Pradesh Police have filed a case against YSR Congress Party (MLC) Mayana Zakia Khanam and two others for allegedly duping a family by promising them special treatment (VIP darshan) at Tirumala temple in Tirumala district. Tirupati, in the state.

According to a complaint filed by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), Khanam, his public relations officer Krishna Teja and another individual, P Chandrasekhar, allegedly defrauded a man of Rs 65,000 by promising a VIP darshan and Veda Ashirvachanam, a ritual, at Tirumala Temple.

The incident took place on Saturday, October 19, when N Sai Kumar handed over the money to the accused near Srivari temple, on the pretext of providing VIP tickets for darshan and Veda Ashirvachanam at Tirumala temple, according to the complaint of the TTD vigilance officer.

On receipt of the complaint, an FIR was registered against the accused in the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and an investigation was initiated.

Earlier, in a similar case, a 41-year-old businessman was cheated of Rs 64,000 by cybercriminals posing as VIP darshan hosts at the Tirumala temple.

According to police, the man had received a WhatsApp message offering a VIP darshan at the Tirupati temple. The sender introduced himself as an employee of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam. The businessman, Rakesh Anand Lalwani, responded to the message and the accused persuaded him to pay the booking amount.

Initially, Lalwani transferred Rs 30,000, then he was asked to pay Rs 29,000, citing technical problems. He also paid Rs 5,000 extra.

A complaint was filed in connection with the incident following Lalwani’s complaint.
