Jigra didn’t work its magic at the box office. As the Alia Bhatt film struggles to keep the box office busy, director Vasan Bala has left X.

Director Vasan Bala deleted/deactivated his account on X after Jigra failed. The filmmaker was active on the social media platform and often interacted with fans as well. However, following the box office failure of Alia Bhatt starrer film, the director seemed to have decided to leave the platform. On Sunday, several social media users noticed that his account no longer existed.

“This message is from an account that no longer exists,” read the message on her account’s landing page. The filmmaker continues to stay on Instagram and has actively reposted positive comments about Jigra on his Instagram stories.

Coincidentally, Vasan Bala’s decision also came after he broke his silence on the various accusations leveled against the film. Addressing the film’s poor collection at the box office, Vasan told Hollywood Reporter India, “For me, it was always a struggle to release the film. But this time, it was obvious that the film was going to be released in a big way. So this is a first for me, and I don’t even know how to handle this. What I do know is that there is a certain responsibility within the general public when it comes to delivering (at the) box office. »

When asked if he feels like he has let Karan Johar and Alia Bhatt down, Vasan admitted, “I feel it. I mostly feel it. I mean, they’re super supportive, and there’s no ounce of letting me feel that way. This is something I have to struggle with. The director also stressed the need to be receptive to criticism to continue moving forward in one’s cinematic journey. “It’s never gracious to defend a film after a certain point,” he added.

The director also noted that Jigra’s release was under increased scrutiny. “Obviously there’s going to be a lot more scrutiny now,” he remarked, adding, “Because I cast a mainstream star and the movie didn’t do the numbers. I think so the more open I am, the more likely I am to make other films.”

Jigra has been under scanner for several reasons. Besides the poor box office reception, the film was also accused of rigging box office receipts. Karan Johar was also accused of pushing Alia to take this opportunity after Vasan revealed that Karan had sent him the script before polishing it.
