October 14

4:14 p.m.: Dispatch received a complaint about an incident on M-33 North. The vehicle was located and a traffic stop was conducted. A 63-year-old Gaylord man was arrested for operating while intoxicated. The subject was taken into custody and booked into the Alpena County Jail.

9:07 p.m.: MCSO received a transferred call from the Detroit Police Department regarding a possible missing male subject who traveled north to a hunting camp. After discussions with several parties, the report was transferred to the appropriate jurisdiction.

October 15

7:40 a.m.: An officer intervenes during an argument between a father and his son. The parties were separated for the day.

8:18 a.m.: The Hillman Fire Department responded to the Dollar General for a smell of burning plastic. The cause of the odor was determined to be starting the oven for the first time this year. All units released at 8:39 a.m.

11:40 a.m.: An officer received a complaint that a person had stolen a VA disability check and cashed it. The complaint remains under investigation.

October 16

4:50 a.m. A driver in Albert Township reported a vehicle-deer accident. A report has been prepared.

October 18

7:18 a.m.: An employee arrived at work at a Hillman business to find the back door open. A police officer intervened and searched the building. It turned out to be unoccupied and nothing was taken.

12:47 p.m.: An officer was arrested at The Caring Place in Atlanta for an assault. The suspect had left the scene before the police arrived. A woman suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital. The incident remains under investigation.

4:45 p.m.: Dispatch received a road rage complaint from a woman traveling on M-32 from Alpena toward Gaylord. The suspect vehicle was located and a male subject was issued a citation for expired registration.

7:26 p.m.: A Briley Township resident was driving on the road and encountered 2 foals on the roadway. The owner was contacted and confirmed that the horses belonged to her.

8:00 p.m.: A vehicle/deer accident was reported in Hillman Township; a report has been drawn up.

8:05 p.m.: A vehicle/deer accident was reported in Briley Township; a report has been drawn up.

8:42 p.m.: An Albert Township resident became concerned about a possible suspicious person after hearing the neighbor’s dog barking for an extended period of time. A deputy patrolled the area and found no suspicious subjects.

8:51 p.m.: Deputies responded to an altercation at a business in Briley Township. Upon arrival, the two male subjects were separated. The altercation turned out to be verbal and the deputies were cleared.

October 19

2:56 p.m.: Hillman Fire/EMS and Atlanta DNR Fire responded to a grass fire on Behring Rd. The fire was quickly extinguished and units were evacuated at 3:30 p.m.

4:34 p.m.: Hillman Fire/EMS, Tri Township Fire and Atlanta DNR Fire responded to a wildfire on Brown Rd. Neighborhood residents were evacuated. A residence was lost in the fire. All units left the scene at 9:04 p.m.

7:48 p.m.: A vehicle/deer accident was reported in Hillman Township; a report has been drawn up.

9:27 p.m.: A deputy responded to a commercial burglary alarm at a business in Hillman Township. The deputy searched the perimeter and found the building secure.

10:27 p.m.: MSP troopers responded to a report of a hit-and-run at a business in Lewiston. The complainant’s vehicle was struck in the parking lot and the other party took off.

10:30 p.m.: A vehicle/deer accident was reported in Briley Township; a report has been drawn up.

11:56 p.m.: A deputy responded to a residential burglary alarm in Loud Township. The residence was secure.

October 20

2:53 p.m.: Dispatch received a complaint of the theft of a black enclosed trailer from a residence in Canada Creek Ranch. The investigation is ongoing.

3:02 a.m.: A DNR Conservation Officer responded to a residence on Culver Road for an injured goose.

6:41 p.m.: MCSO received a complaint of an intoxicated man at a business in Hillman. The complainant provided a description of the vehicle the man was driving and a deputy ordered a traffic stop. A 60-year-old man was arrested for operating while intoxicated and housed at ACJ.
