3 Oakland teens charged in fitness influencer's shooting at Bel-Air home

Three Oakland men have been charged in a daytime attack outside a Bel-Air home that left one man dead and another seriously injured.

The shootings happened Sept. 13 during what was described as a “follow-up robbery”: The Oakland men allegedly pulled up behind the homeowners’ car and attempted to rob the couple in their driveway, said Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón said in a statement. announced on October 18.

Shots were fired and two people were hit: the alleged accomplice of the thieves, Mario Melara, was killed and the owner was seriously injured.

According to social media, the injured person, who remains in hospital, is Miguel Angel Aguilar, 43, fitness influencer and founder of the Self Made Training Facility chain of gyms. TMZ said the thieves were trying to take his Rolex watch.

Three men were arrested Oct. 10 in Northern California, including two 19-year-olds and one 18-year-old, Gascón said. They were being held without bail.

All were charged Oct. 18 with one count of murder, one count of second-degree robbery, one count of shooting into an occupied motor vehicle, two counts of attempted second-degree robbery and of two counts of assault with a semi-automatic firearm. The man who allegedly shot Aguilar was also charged with one count of attempted murder.

No injuries were reported to Aguilar’s wife. TMZ identified her as Priscilla Valles, whose social media accounts say she is a “celebrity hair extensionist.” The couple have two daughters. Their home is on Sunset Boulevard, just east of Interstate 405, in the Bel-Air neighborhood of Los Angeles.
