Homes evacuated after RV fire spreads in Poway area – San Diego Union-Tribune

Fire crews put out a brush fire that briefly threatened homes on the border of Saber Springs and Poway Saturday afternoon, authorities said.

The fire was reported around 3:35 p.m. off Scripps Poway Parkway near Pomerado Road. A camper was completely engulfed in flames and spread to nearby brush, according to San Diego fire officials.

Ten homes along Old Stone Road and Oakview Way were evacuated as a precaution, according to sheriff’s officials.

The fire was, at one point, believed to have grown to about half an acre, officials said.

The cause of the camper fire was not immediately known.
