Four people arrested in fatal shooting on Saratoga Avenue

SAN JOSE — A 36-year-old North Carolina man and three teenagers have been arrested in connection with a shooting death that occurred during a robbery Monday evening in west San Jose, police said Wednesday.

The shooting was reported at 11:58 p.m. in the 1000 block of Saratoga Avenue, according to the San Jose Police Department.

Responding officers found a man unresponsive in that area and he was pronounced dead, police said. He was identified by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner and Coroner’s Office as Francisco David Padilla, 37, of San Jose.

The ensuing investigation determined the shooting occurred in the middle of a robbery during which Padilla was also assaulted, police said. The coroner’s office confirmed he died from a gunshot wound to the chest.

Homicide detectives and patrol officers quickly identified four people as suspects in the killing, police said. Within 24 hours of the shooting, police arrested Daniel Andino, 36, a North Carolina resident; José Andino, 19 years old; Amelia Sistrunk, 18, and a 17-year-old boy whose identities have not been released due to their age.

Additional details about those arrested were not released by police Wednesday. Daniel and Jose Andino were booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail in San Jose, and Sistrunk was booked into the Elmwood Women’s Prison in Milpitas, records show. Police said the juvenile was booked into Juvenile Hall.
