No more need for DDA NOC for power connections in unauthorized colonies: Delhi CM Atishi

NEW DELHI: Delhi Chief Minister Atishi on Wednesday announced that residents of the city’s 1,731 unauthorized colonies would no longer need ‘no objection certificates’ from the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to get electrical connections and install meters. The announcement was made during a press conference.

Atishi asked power distribution companies (discoms) to provide power connections in these unauthorized colonies without requiring NOC from the DDA.
Previously, the certificate was necessary to demonstrate that the house or building located in the unauthorized colony was not subject to the DDA’s land pooling policy, she explained.
Earlier this month, the DDA allowed DISCOMs to offer new power connections to four categories, including urbanized villages and colonies regularized by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), without requiring further reference to the authority.
According to officials, the DDA has permitted such connections on all lands where it or any other government agency has already issued a NoC or where development plans have been approved by any government agency.
