The guilty plea comes after authorities said Brian Jones traveled from South Carolina to Bessemer on March 27, 2022, and went to the Bessemer Police Department to admit to what happened.

That’s when police say Jones confessed to the murder of Janet Luxford, 41, in February 2001.

The day after Jones spoke to police, he took them to a location in Bessemer where he said he left her remains. That’s when police found a suitcase with skeletal remains inside.
