The Supreme Court of the Russian Federation will consider a complaint against ex-Senator Arashukov sentenced to life imprisonment

The Supreme Court will consider a complaint for life sentence against former senator of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic Rauf Arashukov on October 23, as follows from the court file.

“Hearing (public hearing): 10/23/2024,” the filing states.

Those involved in this case are former senator Rauf Arashukov, his father Raoul Arachoukovformer principal investigator Andrei Filippovformer director of the Gazprom Mezhregiongaz Stavropol branch in Mineralnye Vody Guzer Khashukaevformer first deputy head of the RF IC department for the KCR Kazbek Bulatov and the former head of the Center for Combating Extremism of the Ministry of Interior in the region Timur Betuganov.

The verdict against all defendants in this case was delivered in December 2022. Law enforcement agencies arrested Rauf Arashukov on January 30, 2019 during the plenary session of the Federation Council. The Arashukovs were sentenced to life in prison for contract killings, their case was heard separately, the other four defendants received sentences ranging from 5 to 22 years. In addition, Arashukov Sr. was also found guilty of embezzling more than 4.4 billion rubles from Gazprom structures in southern Russia. The verdict has entered into force, recalls RIA Novosti.
