Alabama WR removes replays criticizing Jalen Milroe and Crimson Tide offense

Alabama wide receiver Caleb Odom was not happy after his team’s loss to Tennessee on Saturday. For the 2nd time in a row, the Crimson Tide failed to achieve victory at Neyland Stadium, losing 24-17.

After the game, the 5-star freshman made his displeasure known. Odom reposted a few messages criticizing quarterback Jalen Milroe and the Tide offense on X (formerly Twitter).

Both messages appear to refer to a throw made by Milroe at the end of the 1st quarter. Alabama’s offense was down to the Tennessee 3-yard line when Milroe threw a fadeaway to Ryan Williams that was intercepted by Tennessee’s Jermod McCoy.

Posts shared by Odom question why the fade was thrown at Williams instead of the much taller Odom. It’s not uncommon to see fans and media members question calls, but it’s concerning to see players do so. By Sunday afternoon, the freshman had deleted both replays.

Odom recorded no catches in the Week 8 loss. The freshman only has 5 catches for 45 yards this season, so it’s understandable that the former top recruit is frustrated.

Williams, Germie Bernard and Kendrick Law were the only Alabama WRs to record a catch against Tennessee. Williams led the way with 8 catches for 73 yards and 1 touchdown. For Milroe’s part, the QB threw for 239 yards with 1 TD and 2 INT.

After beating Georgia 3 weeks ago, the Tide have since lost games to Vanderbilt and Tennessee. It won’t be surprising to see more players voice their frustrations if the unusual struggles continue for the Tide.

The next test for Alabama will be against No. 21 Missouri in Week 9.
