KITTITAS COUNTY, Wash.– An Issaquah man faces an identity theft charge after a 2022 incident in Ellensburg.

Kurt Ray Brooks, 38, was arraigned this week in Kittitas County Superior Court.

He is accused of stealing a minivan belonging to his friend’s brother and using an ID card in the van to avoid being arrested for stealing ice.

Brooks pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor counts of first-degree criminal impersonation, third-degree theft and third-degree driving with a suspended license.

The Ellensburg Police Department had warrants for his arrest dating back to the November 2022 incident.

His trial is scheduled for December 31.
