Parkersburg City Council is combining funds for new recreation center projects.

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) – The main discussion within the Parkersburg City Council has revolved around combining funds into one account.

The resolution sought approval from the state auditor’s office to consolidate the carryover funds into a parks and recreation capital projects fund.

Earlier this month, the council approved a $15 million bond issue to kick off the city’s new recreation center project.

The project will also include the renovation of nearby Fire Station No. 3.

The resolution will contribute to accounting and transparency by bringing the two projects together under one fund.

Additionally, the council approved the mayor’s appointment of Jessica Myers to the position of municipal judge for the remainder of the year.

Both measures were adopted unanimously.
