Police chase in Milwaukee; Fleeing driver hits house, 2 children injured

Three people, including two children, were taken to the hospital Monday night, Oct. 21, following a chase and crash with police in Milwaukee.

This happened around 5:50 p.m. and Central. The car crashed into the side of a house.

Police say the pursuit began after officers stopped a vehicle for a registration violation near 9th and Meinecke. The driver stopped first. However, they fled as police approached and a chase ensued.

The pursuit ended when the driver lost control of the vehicle and collided with a building near 17th and Center.

The driver of the vehicle, a 36-year-old man, was arrested and transported to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The two occupants of the suspect vehicle, ages 8 and 2, were transported to the hospital for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

No other injuries were reported. A firearm was recovered.

Kathy Wright lives on Center Street – a street she considers dangerous.

“I often see cars faithfully chasing Center Street,” Wright said. “These people have no heart. They are careless, they lack respect.”

Criminal charges will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office.

A woman who lives in the home told FOX6 News she was sleeping when she felt and heard the impact. She said she went outside and saw police already there because they were chasing a driver.

The wrecked car was put on the tow truck shortly after 9 p.m.
