Woman Who Shot Her Boyfriend Out Of Jealousy Over His Miss Ohio Date Is Looking For A New Man

A Kentucky woman who shot her boyfriend in the face as he prepared to date a pageant queen is looking for a new man behind bars.

Shayna Hubers, 33, was sentenced to life in prison in 2018 after a jury found her guilty of murdering her on-again, off-again boyfriend, Ryan Poston, in October 2012.

Poston, 29, was on his way to meet Audrey Bolte, Miss Ohio 2012, for a date and had attempted to end his relationship with Hubers, then 21.

“I have grown a lot from the 21-year-old I was in October 2012 at the time of my arrest,” Hubers said in a profile page she created on WriteAPrisoner.

“I’m looking for someone who won’t judge me by my past, but by the woman I’ve become.”

Hubers said she remained hopeful that she would soon be a free woman, denouncing “false theories of belief” and arguing that her case had been “used to gain television ratings.”

Hubers shared 15 photos of herself for her profile, some of which were taken from inside the prison.

In an interview with police immediately after her arrest, she told detectives she feared that “someone would one day want to marry me if they knew I killed a boyfriend in self-defense – it’s not funny.” Two separate juries determined that Hubers murdered Poston in cold blood and not in self-defense.

“I’m a tall, slim brunette, 5’10” and 115 pounds with lots of long, wavy, golden brown hair; big, steel-blue doe eyes and a big, bright smile on a heart-shaped face,” she said.

“No one really knows or can explain what I went through except me.”

“I’ve been through a heartbreaking journey, but I haven’t given up on meeting someone who is real, loyal, loving, respectful, non-judgmental and dedicated,” she said.

Hubers was sentenced to life in prison but will be eligible for parole in September 2032. She has been in custody since she was 21 years old.

Although her profile clarifies that Hubers is straight and looking to hook up with a man, she married a transgender woman, Unique Taylor, in a 30-second prison ceremony in 2018.

Taylor, formerly known as Richard McBee, was a persistent criminal offender. The couple separated seven months later, citing irreconcilable differences.

Hubers is ready to find a pen pal outside the United States and is “seeking legal help.” She specifically noted that she was not looking for a “prayer partner.”

During her two criminal trials – the first verdict was overturned after a juror revealed he was a convicted felon – Hubers argued she was acting in self-defense when she shot Poston in the face.

The State argued that she shot her lawyer boyfriend in cold blood because he wanted to end their relationship.

Hubers called 911 after the shooting and told the dispatcher, “Ma’am, I killed my boyfriend. »

When police arrived, they determined he had been shot six times in the forehead, back and torso.

She claimed Poston pushed her and threw her against furniture moments before firing the first shot in her face.

But three of Hubers’ cellmates testified that she bragged about giving Poston “the nose job he always wanted” and claimed she laughed about his death.

Their accounts were similar to what Hubers herself told police after being questioned after the shooting.

“He is very vain,” she told police. “One of our last positive conversations we had was that he wanted to get a nose job.”

“And I shot him right here. I gave him the nose job he wanted. I broke it.

She also began questioning officers about life behind bars, asking if she would be allowed to take her phone or take a shower.
