Payne, who rose to worldwide fame with the boy band One Direction, died on Wednesday at age 31 after falling from the balcony of a third-floor hotel room in Buenos Aires, sparking tributes from his fans around the world.
Cheryl Tweedy, better known by her first name, was in a relationship with Payne between 2016 and 2018 and she used her statement to urge the media to remember they had a seven-year-old son, Bear, who could read the reports. .

“As I try to get through this overwhelming event and overcome my own grief during this indescribably painful time. I would like to kindly remind everyone that we have lost a human being,” she said on her Instagram account.
