Pune police book warehouse worker for alleged theft of 280 laptops

Accused, Suresh Kumar joined the office a month and a half ago and was working as an assistant officer. But due to salary issues, he left his post on Friday.

Pune police booked an assistant working in the warehouse for allegedly stealing 280 laptops worth 1 crore from a facility located at Ubalenagar, Lonikand. The incident was reported between 6 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. Monday at the premises of Arcline Logistics and Warehousing Private Limited. As per the complaint filed by business owner Balkrushna Raut, a case has been filed against Suresh Kumar of Wagholi.

Police said that the complainant was working as a manager in the said company for six months. Accused, Suresh Kumar joined the office a month and a half ago and was working as an assistant officer. But due to salary issues, he left his post on Friday. As per his routine, Raut closed the warehouse on Friday evening and due to holidays the warehouse did not open on Saturday and Friday. On Monday morning, when the complainant opened the lock of the warehouse, he found that the lock was broken and a total of 280 laptops were missing. He informed his superiors and as per their instructions, he filed a police complaint at Lonikand police station on Tuesday.

Police officers from Lonikand police station said, “According to the complaint filed by the company manager, they are suspicious regarding Suresh Kumar who worked in the warehouse and knows everything. We have booked Kumar and further investigation is underway.

A complaint was lodged at Lonikand police station under sections 305(A), 306, 331(2), 331(3), 331(4) and 334 of the NBS.
