Resident hospitalized with burns from Sparta house fire

A Sparta resident was sent to a local hospital Monday with minor burns and smoke inhalation following a house fire in Sparta, authorities said.

“Firefighters responded quickly and are currently on scene actively working to extinguish the fire,” said Capt. Thomas Snyder of the Sparta Township Police Department.

The cause of the fire on West Shore Trail is not yet known.

“We thank the responding fire departments for their quick action and ask the public to avoid the area to allow emergency personnel to complete their work safely,” Snyder said in an email.
