Man pleads not guilty to stabbing murder in northwest Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A 19-year-old man accused of a fatal stabbing in northwest Bakersfield pleaded not guilty Monday to a charge of first-degree murder.

Bradley Perez was ordered held without bail in the death of Lawrence James Leyvas, 20, according to court records. He is due back in court on October 24.

Mother of unlicensed driver involved in fatal crash faces two charges

Leyvas was stabbed around 2 a.m. Oct. 6 on Stone River Court, south of Hageman Road and west of Renfro Road, officials said. He was transported to Mercy Hospital Southwest, where he was pronounced dead.

Perez was arrested on October 10.
