The Department of Justice is launching voter assistance resources for those impacted by recent hurricanes and severe weather damage.

WASHINGTON (WWSB) – The Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division has launched a web page compiling information to help voters in states affected by recent hurricanes Helene and Milton gain access to the ballot.

Hurricanes displaced several thousand people from their homes; vital services disrupted; schools, businesses and other places closed; slow postal delivery; and destroyed important personal property, including photos and identification documents.

In these online resources, the department focuses on the six states directly affected by recent hurricanes: Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. The site identifies and provides links to various changes the state has made to accommodate voters who have been displaced, lost their identification documents, had polling places moved, or are unsure of where or how they can vote.

It also provides contact information so voters can contact local election officials who can provide the most specific and up-to-date guidance.

The Department of Justice is also committed to ensuring that every eligible voter can vote without discrimination or intimidation. Federal laws protect against voter intimidation, coercion, and interference at every stage of the election process.

For more information about voting and elections, including reporting federal voting violations or threats against election workers, visit www.justice.gov/voting.

Contact the Civil Rights Division Voting Unit through the Internet reporting portal at www.civilrights.justice.gov or by calling 1-800-253-3931.

Additionally, the FBI will have special agents available in every field office and resident agency across the country to receive allegations of voter fraud and other election abuses on Election Day. Your local FBI field office can be found at www.fbi.gov/contact-us/field-offices.
