Violent altercation in New Jersey leads cops to 2 bodies in Virginia basement

A man was arrested in New Jersey after a violent interaction in Burlington County led police to find two bodies inside his Virginia home, Evesham Township announced Tuesday.

Amandeep Singh, 49, of Manassas, Virginia, was arrested over the weekend in Medford and charged with two counts of homicide and related charges in Virginia, as well as aggravated assault with a weapon firearms, aggravated assault on a police officer and several weapons offenses in New York. Jersey.

Evesham police were called to the first block of Kelly Drive in Marlton around 2 a.m. Sunday for a report of a man pointing a gun at a homeowner outside his home and making threats, a police announced Tuesday.

By the time police arrived, Singh had left the scene. But the homeowners said they knew Singh and that he had traveled from Prince William County, Virginia, looking for his estranged wife, which sparked an argument on the lawn, according to police.

Investigators learned Singh was still in Medford and arrested him, police said. Authorities found a .40-caliber handgun and an AK-47 with four fully loaded high-capacity magazines in Singh’s possession when he was arrested, authorities said.

Evesham police contacted Prince William County Police Department officials and requested a welfare check at his home, authorities said.

Two people were found dead at the residence and appeared to have died from gunshot wounds, authorities said. Investigators later found Singh’s wife safe in another location in Virginia, authorities said.

New Jersey police have not identified the two people found dead in Singh’s home. WUSA in Virginia reported that the victims were a married couple, Joshua Lee Davis, 45, and Nicole Wanda Lynn Davis. The two men were renting the basement from the landlord, according to the report.

After his arrest in New Jersey, Singh was taken to Virtua Hospital in Marlton for evaluation and treatment unrelated to his arrest, police said. While at the hospital, Singh assaulted a police officer by kicking him, authorities said.

Singh is being held at the Burlington County Jail awaiting his first court appearance, police said.

It was unclear whether Singh had an attorney Tuesday.
